I liken a session to the gradual peeling of an onion, working through each layer unveiling a deeper understanding of the situation and yourself. We peel back the layers of the issue at hand. For example, your relationships, communication style, identity, attachment style, limiting beliefs, patterns of behaviour etc. We work through the layers until we reach the core of the issues. I intuitively select and integrate various holistic techniques and modalities into the session.
Somatic therapy
Negative emotions such as those experienced during a traumatic event can stay locked inside the body. Over time, these negative emotions can turn into psychological disorders or physical problems, such as neck or back pain. In the long term this can manifest as disease in the body. Somatic therapy goes well beyond just treating the mind, it also treats the body and the nervous system. During this process, chronic stress/ tension and painful emotions are healed at a cellular level. I use mind-body techniques to release the internalised stress and emotions that negatively impact your emotional and physical well-being.
Inner Child Therapy
Inner child therapy is a powerful approach that focuses on addressing unresolved emotional wounds from childhood. It is a means to address our needs that haven't been met as children and heal the attachment wounds. For those who have experienced childhood abuse/ trauma, reactions from the wounds may surface more frequently. This can manifest in anxiety, feeling unsafe, lack of self-worth and unhealthy attachments. There can be a lot of intense repressed emotions, which is why a gentle and compassionate approach is needed.
This process assists to develop a deeper understanding of the child self and the impact it has on our adult lives. It begins with acknowledging inner child and building a relationship. Then working through stages to release the emotional burden that the child carries. Old, programmed beliefs and traumas can then be addressed and healed. Reconnecting with this aspect of self provides a powerful tool in the healing process.
Parts Therapy
When you feel stuck or unable to reach your potential, parts therapy can provide valuable insight. Think of the parts of you as different ages and stages of your life and different identities that you have e.g. Parent self, career self, creative self-etc. There are also the identities that are formed through trauma e.g. rescuer, overachiever, performer, firefighter. Parts therapy focuses on the unresolved issues in the identified part of you which can sabotage your efforts toward healing and reaching your goals.
When I talk to clients about parts therapy, I often use the analogy of the Russian Dolls. How we all have these other parts that fit inside us and all those parts of us make up who we are today. Traumas and limiting beliefs can be stuck in one or more of the parts of us. We can open up like the Russian doll take out that part and work on it to bring healing. We can then reintegrate that part and check for the next part that might need attention.
Past Life Therapy
Past lives hold the key to unlocking unresolved traumas, limiting beliefs, fears, phobias, toxic relationships and physical imprints. Many of us have fears, phobias, and negative thought patterns which we cannot attribute to experiences in our lifetime. Past life therapy allows us to delve deeper to uncover the root cause of our issues. Past life therapy is a spiritual rather than a clinical therapy. It is based on the theory that we are souls who choose each life as a means of learning the lessons we have decided for ourselves.
These lessons may have carried forward from a past life. For example, in a past life you may not have had the tools or support to process traumas and emotions and so you come back to complete this challenge. In past life therapy, I also address karmic relationships that need healing and resolution. I intuitively connect to my clients” past lives and explore them in the context of helping them to understand why they are living in their present circumstances. Once I have accessed the origins of their patterns/ issues, I bring healing to the past situation which releases blockages and allows forward movement newness and change.
